Pink Diamonds at Argyle Tender 2009 are all sold!

Argyle Pink Diamonds’ most exceptional and rare stones are sold by invitation-only tender, world’s most exclusive and prestige diamond sale. Each tender diamond has a reserve price, and upon the tender deadline, winning bidders are notified of their success in obtaining a stone. Diamonds suitable for the Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender are generally more that half a carat in size and will have been collected over a one-year period leading up to the annual event. I was very lucky to attend one diamond tender in New York City in 2007 while worked for a diamond house as a colored diamond buyer trainee. I saw many amaizing pink and violet diamonds that year and the experience was incredible! Too bad I didn’t have any photos to show for. Who wouldn’t be a happy girl to see so many beautiful pink diamonds in one room?

Rio Tinto Argyle pink diamond tender 2009 collection comprised 43 of the rarest and the best pink diamonds from Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia, including four heart shaped gems. All 43 diamonds were cut and polished in Perth, Western Australia by Rio Tinto’s master craftsmen, acknowledged globally for their expertise, precision and artistic flare. All 43 diamonds are sold and according to Jean-Marc Lieberherr, General Manager for the sales and marketing for all diamonds from Rio Tinto’s mines, “This year’s collection was keenly contested by investors, collectors and diamond experts from around the world. All diamonds were sold and we were delighted to see strong representation from the growing markets of India and China, as well as the more established markets for rare colored diamonds.”

I have bought an Argyle pink diamond a year after that tender for my own collection and made a glamour pink diamond ring with it! I love the baby pink color of this diamond and the cut. It is so clear and high in clarity.
