Vintage Natural Brown Diamond Engagement Ring

They are a young couple. She’s young but she has a very mature and unique taste to her jewellery. He doesn’t mind her picking her own ring so she picked a design she liked and brought it to me. She has been looking at a white diamond engagement ring and after some research she thought a light brown diamond would be nice too, especially with her yellow gold ring setting. When it comes to colored diamonds, value is all in the color.

First of all, it’s not easy to get a round brilliant cut colored diamond, this factor along makes a round brilliant cut colored diamond values more. secondly, the more intense the color the higher value the diamond is. 1 in 30,000 diamonds is a natural colored diamond so colored diamonds are rare and that’s why some colored diamond demands such high price, for example, red, blue, green and pink are among the rarest.

After we finalized the design, she had to get out of town for two months so she could either pick her diamond when she returns or have her fiance picked her diamond, which I think would be very romantic. It would still be a surprise when he visits her with the ring because she has not seen the ring nor the diamond. She may pick the ring setting herself but he picks the diamond! I presented a few loose brown diamonds for her fiance to pick from.

Bottom view, this is how diamonds are graded to most people’s surprise, from the bottom! Us Gemologists grade white and colored diamonds from the pavillion view (bottom view).

After looking at these diamonds in my office and in the daylight, he decided on this one! It would be the 2nd on the right in the picture above this one.

After he picked it, it took two weeks to have the ring made and this is the finished ring!
