2012 JCK Jewellery Conference
I attend jewellery conference in many places every year, as a designer I want to see what jewelry trends are in and get ideas and get inspired, as a GIA graduate gemologist I always check out what’s new at GIA booth (I found a book all about gemstone inclusions this year), and finally as a jewelry store owner, I am always on the lookout for unique pieces for my Secret Sapphire jewellery boutique in Yaletown.
Hearts on Fire is the only diamond brand I carry as it’s cut to perfection under 100- 120 power magnification, 10 times the normal industry standard. I met up with Hearts on Fire and discuss what clients like and what’ new in the industry, also brought in more engagement ring settings for the store and a lot of small pendants for everyday wear!
Another designer I carry is Margo Morrison. I am a big fan myself and wear one every day with my Hearts on Fire diamond necklace. I just love the fact that you can layer a Margo Morrison necklace with everything you already own, a solitaire pendant, a diamond cross, a diamond initial necklace, anything! I have demonstrated how you can do this in my precious post. I met up with Margo to discuss what my clients like and also brought in a few more including raw emerald necklace, some fresh water coin pearl necklace and turquoise necklaces. Finally, I met up with Lori Bonn, the founder and designer of Bonn Bon charm collection I carry in the store. I discovered that Bonn Bon is coming up with a watch charm, I gotta have that myself, as I also wear a Bonn Bon bracelet everyday!
